Pope Benedict XVI’s message for World Peace Day was released today. The Holy Father remembers the Holy Land and the Baghdad cathedral massacre, noting that Christians are
the most persecuted religious group in the world. He warns against the threats of fundamentalism, secularism and the politicisation of faith. Religious freedom is a right founded on
the dignity of the person; it is not a concession by the state. He speaks about the public role of religion.
